1. Overview and Scope

TransitTracker ("we", "us", or "our") provides real-time public transit tracking, telemetry, schedule estimates, and trip planning services. This Privacy Policy details how our mobile application handles user data on Apple iOS devices.

We adhere to a strict data-minimization model: we collect only the data necessary to deliver live transit data and manage app functionality. We do not require account creation, do not track you across other websites or apps, and never sell or monetize your personal or location data.

2. Location Information (GPS & Telemetry)

To display nearby transit stops, calculate walking distances, and show moving buses, streetcars, and trains in your vicinity, TransitTracker requires access to your device's location services.

• Real-Time On-Device Processing: Your precise GPS coordinates and network location are processed ephemerally on your device while the application is active in the foreground.
• No Historical Tracking: TransitTracker does not log, record, or store your historical movement trails, commutes, or visited coordinates.
• No Commercial Data Sharing: We do not transmit, sell, rent, or distribute your raw or derived location data to data brokers, analytics aggregators, or external advertisers.
• User Control: You can enable or disable location services at any time via iOS Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > TransitTracker). If disabled, you can manually browse cities, routes, and schedules.

3. In-App Subscriptions & Purchases

TransitTracker offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("TransitTracker Pro") that unlocks the complete live fleet across all supported metropolitan areas and removes advertisements.

• Apple StoreKit: All payment transactions are processed directly by Apple Inc. through your Apple ID account. We do not receive, process, or store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.
• RevenueCat: We utilize RevenueCat to manage receipt validation and active subscription entitlements. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous random App User ID to verify active subscription entitlements across device reinstalls without personal identification.

4. Advertising (Free Tier Only)

To support ongoing server and real-time transit data infrastructure costs, the free version of TransitTracker displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob.

• Google AdMob may collect pseudonymous device identifiers (such as the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) where permitted under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, or the Identifier for Vendors (IDFV)), IP address, and technical diagnostic telemetry to serve non-fraudulent ads.
• Subscribers to TransitTracker Pro enjoy a 100% ad-free experience. When an active Pro subscription is detected, all AdMob ad requests and banner renders are completely terminated.

5. Push Notifications

If you elect to receive transit service alerts and route disruptions, we use the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

• With your permission, an anonymized device token generated by Apple is registered with our server.
• This token is strictly used to dispatch delay alerts for transit routes you explicitly subscribe to.
• You may disable push notifications at any time via your iOS Settings or within the app's notification panel.

6. Third-Party Data Sources

TransitTracker aggregates public Open Data feeds from municipal transit agencies (including the Toronto Transit Commission, York Region Transit, Brampton Transit, Calgary Transit, TransLink, STM, OC Transpo, and Metrolinx) and utilizes the Google Maps Platform for transit direction planning. Addresses entered during trip planning are sent directly to the routing API to compute route geometry and are not linked to your personal identity.

7. Children's Privacy

TransitTracker does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take prompt action to remove such information.

8. Security and Retention

All communications between the app and external APIs are secured using standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Because we do not mandate user accounts or maintain profiles, there is no centralized database containing your personal identity or passwords.
